“volunteering is my way of giving back”

Jeff has been volunteering at Tŷ Hafan since 2008: "I started volunteering at Tŷ Hafan as a way to say thank you for everything we had been given as a family with a life-limited child accessing the hospice. The staff are all really caring and because we had been given so much care, love and support during Melanie’s time here, volunteering was my way of giving what little bit I could back.

“If it wasn’t for Tŷ Hafan there wouldn’t be a place where young people could come for such warm and caring end of life care. Melanie sadly passed away at Tŷ Hafan in 2007 but coming here to volunteer, initially with maintenance work, was an invaluable part of my grieving process. I have now been volunteering in the kitchen for four years and love to be able to interact with all the wonderful children and families and also to still have such a strong relationship with the staff who cared so wonderfully for Melanie.

"Being here helps me remember all the fun and laughter that Tŷ Hafan gave to Melanie and our family during her short but precious life and I really can’t say a big enough thank you!" ‪#‎volunteersweek
